go buy a roll of masking tape and drill the holes.
tape the entire plate area if you are worried. you'll feel the bumps left from the factory on where to drill. mark them with a sharpie. Just make sure to get a spur point (dowl bit) so it wont walk while drilling.
most porters do this during the PDI hung over, drunk or high from the night before on the regular. dont over think and drill your holes.
