That's what I (and others) have been saying all along. I just don't see anything in the specs for ESPX3 0W-40 that would indicate that it wouldn't be safe to use in an LT1 or LT4. It's Dexos2 and ESP and it was developed in conjunction with Porsche. I think you could be right about why your GM insider didn't endorse it.
