I had pressure plates rivets breaking while shifting at 6k rpm. Did 4 clutches until I got a race clutch with no dampening at all to fix the issue.
They both have pros and cons. Autos seems to explode under weird shifting scenarios. Burnouts and dynos. Both scenarios trick the computer at some point.

Yes no doubt, I was tracking an idiot proof DCT for 6 years before getting my 2018 ZLE and I am not a great shifter. It took me a couple of years to stop occasionally mis-shifting into too low gear but I somehow always managed to catch it and avoid over-rev... I love the M6 it's made me a better driver, but I won't be surprised if I do this and break the motor. I'm better off with an idiot proof trans, I know it's a great A10 and faster laps, but I don't love 10 speeds that make paddle shifting obsolete. Would prefer a 6-8 speed DCT.
