Before it was 5w30 dexos2 then 0w40 dexos2 for 2023 its 0w40 dexosR.
Unless GM has a document explaining why the change then you can run whatever your year model manual says or go with the 2023 recommendation.
Probably just an oil they believe is better for high temps vs trying to save the cats from melting.
