Because the garage that I have at my apartment isn't very wide, I went with a 3 ton floor jack from Harbor Freight that has a lift height just over 24" and my 6 ton jack stands have a height of 24" which is the same as the Quickjacks.
With the Quickjacks you have can only get under your car from the front or rear. Whereas once the car is on jack stands, I can slide under from the sides too.

I've only ever seen the standard length QJ on the annual(?) sale at HD & Costco. I've never seen the EXT / TLX models on sale. The QJ site does put all of the models on sale at various points throughout the year. IIRC, it's for most major holidays like Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, etc.
