So, just to beat this to death, because that is what we do … 18K makes zero sense on a 4x3 rotor pack. The 2.9 rotor pack was *longer* and therefore has a lower critical speed. Then with the fact that it was 5x3, that 3 rotor was really zipping along at 30,000 RPM when the 5 lobe was doing 18,000! So the 18K limit on a 2.9 made sense. That said, I spun my ported 2.9 at 19,000 to trap 149…

The 3.0 rotor is 4x3, so at 18,000 RPM the 3 lobe is spinning 20% slower than the old 2.9 was at the same pulley combo. Plus the rotors are a good bit shorter, giving them a higher critical speed than the 2.9 as mentioned above in this rant.

TLDR: I think we have much more wiggle room than before. Don’t tell Whipple I said that…
