First I'd check fuse F18 aka body control module #4 in the underhood fuse block, the left (driver) side markers are protected by this fuse.
The two LED segments functioning as standard position lights in the driver side taillight assembly are also driven off of this fuse, so if these work despite the dead left side markers, the next step would be to check continuity on the violet/gray wire that is shared between the left front and rear side markers.
Finally, I'd check the bulbs themselves, it's not impossible that they went out shortly after one another (their service lives should be similar after all) and you just didn't notice the issue while only one was dead.
(Note: all this is based on 2018 data, not sure what model year your car is, you might need to adapt the steps if your car is newer and there were changes after 2019. The BCM #4 fuse is still the same, but I don't know whether the wiring changed.)
