I think this is the biggest difference functionally. I met someone tracking an airport rental Camaro SS at MSR Houston a few years ago and they ran out of front brake pads before the weekend was over. I have never come close to using a whole set of stock front brake pads in 2 days at that track in my SS 1LE with the stock 220 treadwear Goodyear Supercar 3 tires. Although if they had bought and installed the plastic track cooling air deflectors it might have helped a bit.

You could buy and install the 1LE suspension kit and 220tw tires on a regular SS and probably get close to SS 1LE lap times but the stock brakes probably would not be able to handle the usual 20+ minute sessions of fast laps found at most HPDE events without excessive front pad wear.
