My guess would be that your problem is the 20" wheels on the 1LE. I only use the 20" wheels when I take it to the track. For DD I use 19" wheels with Conti ECS (Apex 10" square setup with 285/35), and I can definitely tell the difference with the extra sidewall height. We live very close to one another, so drive on similar roads. With the DD setup, I only really feel the jarring effect when going over train tracks.
I'm sure tire sidewall stiffness between tire brands/models will make a little difference on the 20" wheels, but at the end of the day, there isn't much sidewall height to work with, so they will all transmit pothole and road seam irregularities. Going with a smaller wheel / higher sidewall tire will likely pay much bigger dividends, albeit at a higher total cost. But Apex wheels are pretty affordable.
