Like you’re saying, he is new to the allocation process, so as long as you have an order in that’s all that matters. I probably wouldn’t bother any further at this point, as like you also say, this is a GM issue and not the dealer. While the dealer may not be relating correct info, they’re also put into this ridiculous spot because of GM.
You may want to consider ordering from another dealership and just going with whomever gets and allocation first. That’s what I did - I ordered from a close dealer first, but also ordered from the largest performance dealer in the metro area I live in. Just make sure both places have refundable deposits.
