I live in Seattle, so winter here is rain every day, 25-35 degrees at night and 35-45 degrees during daylight.
My previous performance cars had various all-season tires like Firestone Firehawk (trash) or some Goodyears. However, I've tried switching to Continental DWS06 and felt the difference.
Then I've switched to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 and that is like night and day. Dry handling in cold weather is awesome, wet handling is great, and even driving in the snow is not a big problem. Traction in cold weather on a race track is OK.
So now I swap summer tires on my performance cars to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 for the winter.
For my 1LE I went with a square setup - 295/30/R20, fits well on staggered wheels. Will swap back to summer tires in April/May.
