I think Chevy did a great deal of computer modelling to ensure no loss of flow and also think they're utilizing the shape change to create a resonation of that sound that has a higher pitch and a wicked, more exotic sound from the factory.
But some of us just want that unmistakable "big displacement V-8" sound.
