Because the pads aren't as aggressive Chevy increased the size of the rotors and the calipers with those brakes in order to maintain the same braking capacity as the copper 1LE brakes. It is my understanding that the calipers and rotors for the copper free brakes come from the Cadillac CTS-V Blackwing. And they are huge.

So you got an awesome upgrade over the regular 1LE six piston Brembos for $500, although the pads aren't as aggressive. Of course you can always change the pads and still have the upgraded hardware. My guess is the copper free OEM pads are less dusty than the standard OEM 1LE pads, although I have no first hand experience with them. The standard 1LE pads are very dusty. The larger calipers and rotors also look awesome behind the 1LE wheels.

Here is what the standard 1LE front brakes look like.

Unfortunately, NO! I have them on my ‘22 1LE. They produce as much dust if not more! I love the size of brakes and everything other than that. I will find a pad soon to switch them out to. The bigger brakes do look great.
