100% throwout bearing. Not covered beyond 12,000 miles 12 months probably. Probably not a super expensive part but maybe not inexpensive to swap.

now, for old guy Camaro stories:
I had a new 85 Z28 which repeatedly caused throwout bearings to massively Chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp. GM couldn't fix it, they kept putting in new throwout bearings and 3 days later chirp chirp chirp.
GM warranty ended up paying a third party transmission shop to fix it with a shim. The next Z28 (IROC) I bought (89 dual-cat stick) had wrong speedo gears - on both ends - GM techs couldn't guess the right ratio for the topside gear. So GM paid a third party speed shop to fix that under warranty by cutting a custom speedo gear to make speedo be exactly correct... But not before a few (more) speeding tickets for me.
