...aaaand I just found this out for myself. Once I parked it in the sun yesterday, the sides were great but the center had bowed out away from its attachment points and shoved up tight against the trunk. Soooo, this morning I pulled the taillights and got rid of the zip ties. Looks like I'm just going to live with 1/16 to 1/8 poke on each side when it gets hot. Centering the crash bar definitely made it better than it was beforehand though, so I'm glad I did that.
