Vitesse contoller Installed
Due to feedback from Adam Poland, he suggested my car needed a more aggressive throttle controller map. SO.......I had AMP use HP tuners and Sam modified the table to be more linear.
As a SECONDARY step, I wanted the car to basically be instantly adjustable in terms of throttle response so that it could easily adapt from say a track with TIGHT corners like the 1.3 mile Motorsports Ranch course to a much faster course like the Eagles Canyon course that has increasing radius turns and high corner exit speeds.
The way the VITESSE works is that it has NINE separate adjustments in sports mode from SP0 (like shown in pic below) to SP9 (most aggressive throttle response). It also provides SEVEN different settings in the ECONOMY mode which I would NEVER use.
Since I LIKED the way AMP modified the throttle response table with HP tuners I wanted to make sure that the VITESSE controller would NOT over ride the AMP modified throttle position table in the ECU.
In talking with the tech at VITESSE, he said the VITESSE controller used the paramaters in the ECU table and simply makes them MORE aggressive by ADDING to those values (in SP mode).
Since SP0 is in effect NOT adding any values to the ECU table then THAT is the setting that lets the AMP modified throttle position table work as if the VITESSE controller is NOT attached.
I have included the instructions because the setup is NOT very forgiving in that if you dont do it EXACTLY as they say, then you can get a DTC code and the car can go into reduced power mode.
In playing with this last night, the SP9 setting was like an on off switch and was too aggressive. Vitesse mentioned that MOST people run SP5 or SP6 setting assuming they have an UNMODIFIED Throttle position table in their ECU.
In my case, SP3 felt good using my michelin 4s and I could see using SP6 with my track setup and slicks on the FASTER tracks.
The NEAT thing about this controller is that you can change the setting on the fly.
I will feedback once I have more real world experience. I plan on doing some test sessions this weekend.
