In the end, all that truly matters is the "plus how much" on top of the trade.
With that said, comparing the trade valuation against the market helps one understand if they're being fair at that level. Comparing the selling price against a no-trade deal helps one understand if they're being fair at that level. Then, ultimately, it helps one understand if the "plus how much" is fair.
