I think wastegates are easier for boost control than pulleys and belts.
Installing a well designed hot side isn't much different than installing long tubes.
Oil scavenge pump is very similar to PD coolant pump.
Installing a FMIC is similar to a heat exchanger.
Pinning a crank or removing crank pulley isn't needed for turbos.
Turbos may need additional heat shielding.
If there's a mistake with turbo boost control, can be a big problem.
FMIC piping can have packing constraints.
