There is more adjustability in a 4l60e file from 20 years ago. And for 1/4 mile racing, you don't need all of those gears with a power adder car. See NHRA Pro Stock 5 speed manual. And, if I'm not mistaken, the Pro Mod class runs two to five speed autos and manuals with a gobs of hp. One of the top Pro Mod guys uses a three speed auto.
