Yea, there's a reason why all high HP cars go back to fewer gears. There's too much complexity in the newer transmissions. For all their efficiency which makes them rather strong to a certain point, when ultimate power is what you're after, all roads lead to 2-4 gear transmissions.

It's because there is a lack of tuning parameters in the TCM combined with the lack of upgradeable parts. The TCM file for a A10 is generic as it gets. There is more adjustability in a 4l60e file from 20 years ago. And for 1/4 mile racing, you don't need all of those gears with a power adder car. If it was a NA build screaming to 10k rpm, then you could make a case for needing 5 gears in the 1/4mile.
