^^^This^^^ sayeth the longtime GM Employee / retiree who has distributed numerous discounts to family members.

GM DOES audit the use of the certificates and WILL retract privileges for violating the rather liberal guidelines. Parents, grand parents, siblings, children nieces, nephews, grandchildren, in-laws.

At certain levels, executives can provide one discount a month to anyone. Once a year or so GM used to allow company car drivers to pass along one employee discount to anyone. I’ve been retired a few years now so I’m not sure if they still do that.

Bottom line, it is extremely unlikely that someone you are not related to or really really close to will just up and offer you a GM Employee discount. It’s not worth the downside.
