Poison and snap traps in the garage. The best poison is from professional pest control. I use snap traps in addition to poison because it seems voles go for the snap traps year round.
Use plastic snap traps, not the old fashioned wire kind. The plastic traps are easy to open and re-use. They have little bait cups, and a tiny drop of honey is the best bait.
I have never used mothballs because who wants that smell in the car?
