For the OP... I've owned both (all 3 if you count 5th Gen) and also had both Auto and manual.
I too am 100% track focused with my car and my advice is if you favor the drag strip stick to the ZL1. If you favor the road track then go ZLE. There is a big difference between the two. I've always tried to find that middle ground and it just isn't there. You can do one or the other extremely well but not both.

The regular ZL1 is a formidable opponent on the road track as well, without the harsh ride of the ZLE suspension...
