Not sure what your description of "slow to start" is, so this may not be the same...
If my car sits for a period of time, it will sometimes crank for a long time before it catches. And, when it does start, it will backfire and run like garbage for about ten seconds while the fuel "catches up" with the rest of what's going on.
When this has happened, I have simply turned the car off immediately, waited about five seconds, and cranked it over again. Zero issues.
I have also tried holding the start button until the car goes into service mode (everything powered on but car not running) as a way to try and pre-pressurize the fuel rails but it didn't help.
I haven't gotten a CEL out of it.
