I am not sure why. These cars are tuned for E10 fuel. And E10 is higher octane then 93. So you are only going backwards.

Not likely. GM tuned both the LT4 and LT1 to live off the knock sensors. They show knock regardless of what fuel you run at the pump. The knock sensors are setup to be overly sensitive. likely to protect the engines from those who will put 87 in them.
