Imo your best defense is give the oil PLENTY of time to reach operating temp. Bad things tend to happen when you hammer the throttle on cold/high viscosity oil (which is much higher stress on the pump)
Here I was thinking I could relax the more miles I accumulated. I wonder what the actual failure rate percentage is?
