My buddy got me into the idea of getting a car to drive on track. I had driven his 2014 Mustang at VIR twice and started off with the intent of buying a new 2021 GT PP1. But as I started looking at what you got for the money, and then hearing about the overheating problems due to lack of coolers, it just wasn't making sense. Around that same time, I heard mention of the Camaro SS 1LE as a better alternative. Did my research and concluded it was a considerably better track car for less money than a Mustang.
The only question was how bad was the outward visibility (livable or not)? Test drove an SS and after 5 minutes was convinced that the visibility problem is way overhyped. The rest is history. Have been a happy owner going on 1 yr now.
Oh, and the comment about you sitting on top of the mustang but IN the Camaro is totally true. One time went out on track with my buddy driving and me riding shotgun; I couldn't believe how much I was thrown around the car. Center of gravity is too high and the GT seats do not hold you in place like the Camaro's Recaros do.
