Well, in this case it DOES do something, in that say you are at half throttle, ie, 50%. With the stock throttlebody it lets in 50% of the air the the throttlebody is capable of. With the larger throttlebody that 50% opening is now allowing in MORE air than the stock throttlebody is allowing in at 50%, say 58% compared to the stock throttlebody of air is now getting in at 50% throttle. It will "feel" like it gives more power, but you could have done that exact same thing with the stock throttlebody by pressing down just a little more on the accelerator pedal.

You can also retune the ECM and tell it that 50% pedal position is 58% throttle position and it does the exact same thing.

Kinda like the pedal commander-type of products. All they do is change the rate when you press the pedal, so it makes it seem more "jumpy" than it was before, but in reality you can do the exact same thing by making a change in the ECM.

So, to sum up, they DO make a change, but those changes can also be made in the ECM without adding or changing parts.
