Quality of materials, fit and finish, technology, American cars don't come close. It has quattro all-wheel drive and has mild hybrid system technology with 12v and 48v batteries. That is where the extra weight comes from. 4.0 twin turbo V8, same engine in some Porsche & Lamborghinis because they are all owned by VAG.
