This is what I did for my car, a MY2020 2SS 1LE built soon after the first COVID shutdown ended. It's what worked for me.
No pics of the driver side because it was easy enough to not have to pay attention to what I was doing. Just peels some tape on the harness, identify the blue wire with white stripe, put the sensor on the wire, put some foam tape around the sensor, and rewrap the harness.
Passenger side was more troublesome because of how little room there is between the battery and the corner. In retrospect, I probably could/should have gone into the harness at a different spot (near where it runs by the grounding post I used, see third photo label), because that might have been a lot easier, but oh well.
The first pic is after removing some of the tape over the wiring harness.
Second shows the sensors attached to the right wires before covering them with foam tape. The wiring didn't seem to fully match what the shop manual suggested would be there. So it took a little trial and error to find the right wires.
Third photo is mostly the same thing from a little further away also showing the Tekonsha controller where I wound up mounting it and the controller wiring in a messy state.
Fourth shows the sensors wrapped in foam tape, the controller wiring straightened up, and the controller hanging on the post for one of the taillight screws. I used a nut from a jar o' nuts in the garage, It didn't quite fit and painter tape was within hand's reach, so that's what I used to retain it which you can see in the next pic.
Fifth one shows the whole passenger side set up. The positive lead is attached to the 200 amp lead on the battery. Where the fuse goes is labeled and so is where I mounted the ground. The black wiring with the yellow line coming off the controller is what plugs into the trailer. I wound up routing it behind the trunk liner to come up out from under the plastic piece at the back of the trunk. When used, it goes under the trunk lid. After the first real tow, I found the wiring had marred the clearcoat on the bumper cover a bit (polishing buffed it out fine). I started taping the wiring down after that. I've thought about rerouting through a grommet to come out from below the bumper, but I like keeping it inside the trunk instead of being outside, so I haven't done anything about it.
Sixth photo is just another angle of the wrapped up sensors that gives a better view of how tight it is back there.
