I think what will happen with electric cars is that someday they'll be to us what our current gen cars are to 80s/90s "fast" cars. I had several 5.0s back in the day and thought they were pretty quick. Now it would take a fully built and blown one to even keep up with a stock RS3, M3, zl1, etc. When I see those 80s/90s cars on the road, I enjoy it because of the nostalgia, but I don't at all perceive them as a "fast" car anymore. I think when most EVs are running 9s and 10s with ease, right off the showroom floor, our "fast" cars will be looked at the same way. So, we'll eventually find ourselves in the same boat as the current classic car owners, where we enjoy our cars for what they are and we are ok with knowing that we're not the fast guys on the roads anymore. Change is difficult but it certainly seems like the tech is moving in that direction, barring any crazy setbacks like WW3 or something LOL

I'm not sure if you saw the video yet but a stock Tesla recently straight up mopped the floor with a stock 2020 GT500 both from a dig and a roll. It then beat a highly modded 1000 RWHP GT500 from a dig and a roll. Another Tesla beat a Hayabusa. And they have been destroying the Hellcats. So those days are already here for the most part. I don't think any Tesla owners would shy away from a race. And I wouldn't shy away either...but I hope I don't come across them, lol!!
The only thing I'd say is different about your post is that in the future you mention most likely there won't be any of our ICE vehicles on the roads as gas will probably cost way too much...like $15 a gallon for 87 octane or something ridiculous like that. But I do agree that the performance difference will be similar to the difference between our current cars and the 80s-90s versions.
To think, I remember the first time I drove my 87 IROC-Z with 5.7 TPI and I could not believe how fast it was. Then I drove my 95 Z28 the first time and I couldn't believe how fast that was. Then came modded and supercharged Mustangs up until I got my 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS and that totally blew me away. Up until my 17 ZL1 which again just amazed me. To Hellcats and now having modded cars. And to think that these EVs are soo fast that they are gonna eat up cars like mine easily from stoplight to stoplight. And the faster ones will wreck my cars from a dig, from a roll, etc. The idea that this next level of performance is that far above what we have now is just insane.
