You've got to pay to play. I get that the OP is disappointed he's out a few dollars for the repair, but time at the track is CLEARLY different than time spent on public roads. Stresses on suspensions, engines, tires, brakes, etc. - not including the potential for damage via driver error - are much greater. Most insurance policies don't also cover HPDE's or other on-track events, and will disclaim responsibility for a claim if it's later discovered the car was on-track at the time of the claim. Sure you can by track insurance, but it's priced to include the greater potential for claims related to on-track damage.
