Its extremely unlikely GM would cover anythign at this point. I would say the car was a lemon, but being 4-5 years old I believe its too late to make a claim against it.
If it were mine, I would either sell it as is or pull the engine and have someone else rebuild it with some more power. at least if it were sold the buyer would have the opportunity to buy a warranty from a dealer and have if fixed.
