the other option is to put back to essentially stock for smog. can you do long tubes or cam? not really. now you cant even run a tune without flashing back to stock.

so maybe, you are registering your car in a county that does not have tough smog laws (nowhere close to the bay area or LA), have a buddy who hooks you up with smog, or your idea of modifying cars is wheels, an axle back, and an intake. then yea maybe CA is not that bad.
