GM has briefly sprinkled this color( or very close variations of) in with Vettes and Camaros for years and always end up being a rare color.

I had a 2000 Z/28 in red with a black top, but I always wanted an SOM one. They were virtually impossible to find though, and yes they absolutely commanded a premium.
