It sounds like your clutch isn't fully disengaging. I had this same issue with an Integra Type R. If the pressure plate is ever so slightly dragging, it will make it difficult to get into first gear at a full stop. First gear is not synchronized, so there cannot be any force being applied to the input shaft. In the case of my Integra, a piece of the hub had broken off, and occasionally would find a happy place to cause not a complete disengagement. If it's happening to you constantly, I'd look at the clutch master or slave cylinder. Try a fluid flush first.
