The LT1 has the same differential as the SS. It is a mechanical limited slip. There is nothing wrong with your car. These cars do not alwaya go straight during wheel spin with the nannies turned off. A stickier compound tire in the rear will help the condition.

I have nothing to offer you in your M3 comparison except that those M3 V8s made almost no torque which should probably be why it would go straight since there is less rear wheel torque. 2008 m3 is about 160 ft lbs of torque less than an LT1...
