Typical validated engagement and typical competition rules require engagement equal to your stud size, so with M14x1.5, you need a bit over 9 turns to get 14mm of engagement. Various aftermarket rims often lose thread engage (or some might gain). Just measure your combo and be safe to what you personally feel or per the rules. For me, that's 14+mm of engagement on my Camaro.

NHRA for example: "The thread engagement on all wheel studs to the lug nut, or lug bolts to wheel hubs, must be equivalent to or greater than the diameter of the stud/bolt."
