New engine coming, paid for by GM?
In my case the oil pump decided that it would blow up at the dealership while in for an oil change, so no new motor for me.
This is what they found and I am quoting.
"The pump to the filter, minimal contamination right after the pump, the rest of the port is clean. Flushed out oil port inside block from pump to filer (with oil pan off). Removed sump from oil pan and thoroughly cleaned out debris, and cleaned out oil pan. Reassembled oil pan. Installed new oil pump and reassembled."
This was all part of the drive train standard warranty as I do not have an extended warranty. According to the dealership this was a $3245.35 oil pump replacement cost.
I guess I count myself lucky that it happened at the dealership but again the pump that they went in with was a GM OEM pump, so now I have to wonder if all the problems have been resolved with these newer pumps.
