I'm thinking for piece of mind I'm going to stick a new battery in there. I'm hoping you figure it out because I'm thinking I may have a very similar issue.
Had the issue of it not showing codes as well for a while. Possibly coincidentally, it started storing the codes soon after the global reset at the dealer.
