UPDATE:

It takes about 90 seconds to empty the 5 gallon jug into the car. The PVC extension tube of 1/2 an inch diameter prevents it from flowing faster. HOWEVER thats ALOT faster than using a funnel and sloshing the fuel back and forth thru it into the tank.

Since the largest diameter PVC that you can use on the extension is 1/2 inch, the filler neck in our cars is the restriction really. The filler tube that comes directly off the Jug is 3/4 an inch.

I guess GM did that as an anti Theft device regarding fuel (baffled reduced diameter filler neck). If you ever tried to siphon fuel out of you car for any reason it is next to impossible. I am sure also GM also did that due to wanting to keep fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere from your fuel tank due to an EPA restriction.
