My impression was that meth will cool your intake charge temp, but actually increase cyl temp. Again my disclaimer... please correct me if I'm wrong.

methanol/e85 burn at a slower rate. resulting in lower cylinder temps.
pour some methanol on the ground and light it on fire
pour some e85 on the ground and light it on fire
now pour some 93 on the ground (step back) and light it on fire
if you want to continue the experiment, try 87.
the idea is to add octane. more octane means more timing. more timing is more power. more power is more smiles
