Talked to Dan at Katech. He says the eccentric "slider"/gear portion of the pump that results in variable pressure is manufactured of low carbon steel and prone to cracking -
he says this part is unchanged 19+, so he expects failures will continue. This part is manufactured of billet in their upgraded pump
He also told me their upgraded pumps are produced in batches and currently on backorder. He recommends that the engine be removed to replace the pump so it's probably ~$2k in labor
