Sorry but have to add this.
First, it sounds like your initial issues were with buying a car 5 hours away, and second only having your closest dealership 1 hour away once you got home. That makes everything tougher. Then expecting a dealership to be open on Sunday and have full tech capability. I've had many dealers be very clear with me that on some issues, they don't have all of their techs on hand at odd hours to handle my specific concern. Second, having someone say show up an hour early is on that person and dealership, not GM. Having techs sitting around smoking until they are on the clock is, well, what I'd expect. They don't get paid to go, "oh, wow. A customer. Let's open early." That isn't even their job.
Finally, your last issue is simply, like me, being very picky on BSR and Fit. I had the doors on my LaCrosse reset because the green house moldings didn't line up (drives me nuts to look in the OSRVM and see belt moldings not lined up), and that's just the start of things I've had dealers look at or correct on my cars over the years. Is an Audi better? For sure, but I know the money they put into their parts and processes that GM can't for the price point. You made a comment that you got a $20,000 engine in a $35,000 car. The basic elements of the Camaro are a $25,000 car not 35. What you are adding are then powertrain and chassis to improve performance. That was always my complaint with GM when I was there. You can spend $70,000 on a Camaro yet you get the interior and materials of a $25,000 car. You won't find this in a $70,000 BMW, Audi or Mercedes because the base car isn't a "cheap" car.
Glad you got it sorted out.
