Adhesive felt pads (furniture type) behind the plate keep it from scratching the paint.
Metal plate cover from Walmart and some FIFTY badges from Ebay completed the look.
If you want it to match the
Mosaic Black Metallic trim, you'll need to get a spray can of GB8 WA834A from somewhere like this:
