It burned completely off after 10 mins with no residue so i am assume it had something to do with the welding.

Yeah same reasons why I’m wanting to run cats myself. Oh I gotcha. That’s crazy. Hopefully these will do the trick for you.
That’s what I figured they were covering the welds.
