Any particular reason why you are still running cats if you kept having a problem with them melting?

Hi, i'm running cats because i cant stand the smell of gas and IMO these cars with headers and no cats sound like crap. Loud, raspy just crappy. The old cats weren't actually melting, they were being bent inwards which is the most common problem with these cats.


The new ones are rated for 850hp per bank, so well see. As far as the black on the pipes, the tech put that on after they were welded. Why, im not exactly sure. Helps find a leak? He had some extra black paint? lol.


It burned completely off after 10 mins with no residue so i am assume it had something to do with the welding.
