Your last point is one of the main reasons the Mustang outsells the Camaro. With the Mustang being just as fast in a straight line it's kind of a no brainer because most are not going to go out and beat on these cars around a track so to them having the extra space matters more. If Dodge ever finds a way to cut some of the excess fat off their Charger/Challenger Chevy is going to be in even more trouble if they drop to the 3rd spot in acceleration/speed between the three pony cars.

And like I said before Ford is pushing the base model GT was is a lot cheaper. Chevy should have pushed the LT1 more.
