You need more power then what those calculators show to run the predicted times. They don't factor all of the Torque Reduction and Torque Management that is in play on these higher powered factory cars.

The A10 shifts 5 times before the 1/4 mi and it pulls the timing back to -10 degrees on each shift. The first 2 shifts on a A10 takes like .5 tenths to complete. 4th on is about .25 tenths. The difference between a properly tuned A8/A10 is that a stock one will shift and not gain any ground on the shift, where a tuned one will usually pull soon as it shifts. 2-3 tenths reduction is pretty common and that is still leaving some TR in play. Remove all TR and you will see another tenth drop.
I get what you are saying.

Had a guy with a 5.3 turbo truck that wanted to cheap out on having his tranny built, but wanted me to dial back the TD. I told him that wasn’t a good idea as it’s probably the only thing holding his tranny together. He didn’t believe so I said fine, I’ll give you one pass at 0%. It wouldn’t even make the shift to 2nd. He looks at me & says OK, turn in back to where it was.

Wasn’t sure if the new stuff was more active through the gears.
