There was a M3 that got totaled last year at Pikes Peak International Raceway. IDK what happened, there was a lot of room to slow but he was way late, looked almost like a brake failure. Out of 600-700 runs that day nobody else got close to that wall...
It went to a hard right hander.

I've seen a couple of cars get totalled at events. One was on a tight course where curbs line the outside and a Mini came in way too hot and slid into a curb. It somehow didn't flip, but flew a good 15 - 20 yards before coming to a stop. Took out a massive chunk of concrete, the wheel totally broke off, a back window popped out, and the frame bent pretty significantly. I actually refuse to attend events at that location because I had someone nearly crash into me while I was sitting on the start line.

The other one was a C5 that the co-driver wrecked into a poll. The poll was a ways off course, and the last thing you heard before impact was full throttle. Supposedly they were a national trophy winner in a CSP Miata, and this was their first time driving the Corvette. I guess didn't know what to do with actual horsepower. They took down the wooden pole and pretty well knackered the Corvette. They also refused to pay the club/site for the pole (less than $1000, it was an old light pole that probably needed to be replaced anyway), and never paid anything to the owner of the Corvette. I'd imagine they're blackballed from most of the clubs in the area.
Yeah very little damage, and the damage that is there isn't really noticeable. Luckily the barriers are made out of a very light plastic so there were some scuffs but I rubbed them off with my hand.
